Amerika  - A TV miniseries featuring Kris Kristofferson as a deposed President of the United States.  America has been bloodlessly taken over by the Soviet Union, leading to slave-labor camps for some, collaboration for others and rebellion for yet others.  Recommenviewing.

Idiocracy - Mike Judge's (Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill and Office Space) outrageous sci-fi comedy that'll make you think twice about the future of mankind.  Private Joe Bauers, the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes 500 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive.

Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984)  - Based upon George Orwell's novel of a totalitarian future society in which a man whose daily work is rewriting history tries to rebel by falling in love.  Starring John Hurt as George Orwell's character Winston Smith  The official language dictionary continues to become smaller and smaller.  "The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect."  I say that's a double plus good great conspiracy ;-)

Cinderella Man - The story of American boxer James J. Braddock.  Russell Crowe does justice :-)  Worth it just for the scenes from The Great Depression.

The Time Machine - The Morlocks want you HEALTHY!

Blue Thunder  - Starring Roy Schieder as a test pilot for an experimental police helicopter who learns the sinister implications of it's use as a covert surveillance and anti-riot weapon.

Minority Report  - Starring Tom Cruise.  The Future Can Be Seen. Murder Can be Prevented. The Guilty Punished Before the Crime is Committed. The System is Perfect. It's Never Wrong. Until It Comes After You.

Hacking Democracy  - An investigation of electronic voting machines and their impact on the Presidential Election in Ohio

Why We Fight  - Is American foreign policy dominated by the idea of military supremacy? Has the military become too important in American life? Jarecki's shrewd and intelligent polemic would seem to give an affirmative answer to each of these questions.

Wall Street- "Create, instead of living off the buying and selling of others." - Martin Sheen's character in the movie (in real life, Mr. Sheen is a Catholic who 'walks the walk')

Time Bandits  - A kid's imagination of time travel (according to Monty Python).  God and The Devil square off...  And God (Sir Ralph Richardson) is, of course, British.  Christopher Plummer as the Devil.  Great fun

S.O.B.  - Blake Edwards' great spoof on the Hollywood  lifestyle.  Be sure your lungs are in good condition because this amount of laughter has been deemed hazardous to you health by the Laughter Approval Federation of Florida and vote recounting service (LAFF)

Shogun - A English navigator becomes both a player and pawn in the complex political games in feudal Japan.

In The Mouth Of Madness - John Carpenter's horror story about a writer whos books are actually creating reality.

The Twilight Zone - Rod Serling and his friends dished up quite a few precient stories, some more fictional than others
    "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" - a diner full of bus passengers ponders who among them is the visitor from another world.  When he finally does introduce himself, he's in for a bit of a surprise
    "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" - a group of neighbors frantically searches for the alien monsters among them who are causing all the strange phenomenon that's frightening them, only to find that the monsters are closer than they thought

Star Trek Next Generation - "Where no one has gone before..."
"Relics" -  The Enterprise stumbles upon a Dyson's Sphere, with a ship crashed on the outer surface. When an away team finds some of the systems still powered up...  and Scottie
"The Game" -  Wesley Crusher returns to the Enterprise on vacation from the Academy only to discover a mysterious alien game infiltrating and controlling the crew.  "What do the initials AF stand for?"  (Audrey Farber?)
"The Arsenal Of Freedom" - The Enterprise encounters a planet long dead, but technical equipment still functions for the purpose of selling off its arsenal, along with eternal self sufficiency ;)
"Hollow Pursuits" - Lt Barkley makes his own holodeck world, and the crew of the Enterprise is not amused...
"Who Watches The Watchers" - be careful when you are in a 'duck blind'.  Someone may be watching you as well ;-)
"Devil's Due" - While answering a distress call, Picard finds himself not sure of exactly who he is dealing with, but he's sure he's NOT dealing with the planet's version of The Devil, as she claims to be.
    "The Most Toys" - Data is caputured by a collector of rare objects.  Data however has no interest in being part of anyone's collection
