AMERICA'S FINANCIAL SITUATION

Living In Beverly Hills - Or at least that's what we thought ;)  An excellent article on where the American 'standard of living' went wrong.  It includes many very useful graphs

I really hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that like Stephen Stills says, we're just "Buyin' Time"
Oh well, Ronnie Milsap says people should keep the "Homefires Burning"

Hey, let's take a vacation and go down to Joe Vitale's "Plantation Harbor"
(with a little help from Mr. Joe Walsh on guitar and producer for The Eagles Bill Szymczyk)

"The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians, they're an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the statehouses, the city halls. They've got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies, so that they control just about all of the news and information you hear. They've got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying -- lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else."
    ~ George Carlin
"Imagine a man who takes money out of a child's piggy bank
and puts in I.O.U.'s"
So Long Suckers
~ from the W.C. Fields movie "The Bank Dick"  President Bush and the National Debt Clock
On January 20th, 2001 our National Debt was $5,727,776,738,304.64
(that's 5.7 Trillion)
W.C. Fields had no concept...

I suppose once Shrub has left office there will be a litany of complaints about what he and his friends did to this country economically.  Perhaps an old Steve Miller song sums it up best:
Go on, "Take The Money" Enron - to pull off such a scam takes quite a bit of Skilling ;)

It's OK, we've still got our Great-Wal-Of-Credit Card!
ohhhh-k....  How about a little music from Hank Williams, Jr. called "The American Dream"

Current U.S. National Debt Clock (moving up on 10 Trillion , folks, and that's before the "Bail Out")

Ross Perot - remember him from the 90's elections when he went on TV holding charts showing just how bad the economy really was?  Well, he's done it again with a really good Flash presentation describing just how deep we've sunk into the outhouse.  It's at Perot Charts.  Kudos, Mr. Perot :)

Pentagon investigators discovered in August that a small South Carolina company fraudulently collected $20.5 million in shipping costs, including one invoice of $999,798 for sending two washers (cost: 19 cents each) to a base in Texas. According to Bloomberg News, the Defense Department was said to have a policy of automatically and unquestioningly paying shipping bills labeled "priority." [Bloomberg News, 8-16-07]

IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
What is the truest definition of Globalization? Princess Diana's death, and here’s
why: An English princess, with an Egyptian boyfriend, crashes in a French tunnel in a
German car with a Dutch engine driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky,
followed closely by Italian Paparazzi on Japanese motorcycles. She was treated by an
American doctor using Brazilian medicines.
This was sent to me by an American using Bill Gate’s technology. You're probably
reading it on your computer with Taiwanese chips and a Korean monitor assembled by
Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant and transported by Indian lorry-drivers,
hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen and trucked to you by
Mexican illegals!
That, my friends, is Globalization…
